I consider myself an avid pianist, but not so much due to my Performer’s ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music; I never practiced nearly as much as I should have, and in spite of having some excellent instruction, I now question how well I understood what was going on.
I specialize somewhat in jazz performance, a field in which I am (mostly) an autodidact. I would describe myself a professional by the standards of an amateur and an amateur by the standards of a professional. Perhaps an appropriate analogy, insofar a self-assessment of skill is concerned, would be a chess player who knows his pins from his skewers and his zugzwangs from his zwischenzugs, but has just begun to probe the depths of the opening book.
Every now and then, I play banquets and weddings for income and/or personal amusement, and my services are still on the market. E-mail me and we’ll discuss rates.
When I was younger I dabbled in producing my own arrangements of video game music. I have now been away from it for a number of years, but several of my recordings remain available on this site.
My clarinet reed of choice is the Vandoren V.12, strength 3 1/2.
